Blaze Pizza Adds CEO to President’s Duties
Fast-casual franchisor Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza announced Thursday that Jim Mizes has been promoted to be its new president and CEO. He has served as the company's president and chief operating officer since 2013.
"Jim is uniquely suited to take over the CEO role at our organization," said Rick Wetzel, co-founder and chairman of Blaze Pizza. "He combines a background in finance and restaurant operations with decades of experience helping start-up brands add systems and processes so they can scale smoothly and quickly. He is truly the entrepreneur's best friend!"
Mr. Mizes previously worked at Noah's Bagels and Jamba Juice. He joined Blaze Pizza as its COO in 2012 when the company had two restaurants. According to its press release, the pizza chain now has 194. At the end of 2015, the chain had 5 company-owned restaurants, according to its franchise disclosure filing. The rest of the restaurants were franchised.
Blaze Pizza says under Mizes' leadership its pizza restaurants have achieved an average unit volume of $1.45 million in 2016 in 31 states and Canada. However, there is an anomaly in that it says in the same press release that its restaurants are in 32 states.
